Established in 1992 as an Industrial Training Institute in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), now a deemed university, has emerged as a leading institution for higher education and research in India. Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University was established in 1992 as an Industrial Training Institute in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. Founded by Dr. Achyuta Samanta, a visionary and philanthropist, the institute started with humble beginnings and a seed capital of ?5000 (approximately US$66.8). Dr Samanta, driven by a vision to make a difference in society through education, embarked on a journey that would transform the landscape of higher education in India.

Initially established to provide vocational training, KIIT quickly evolved to meet the demands of the education sector. In 1997, it took a significant stride forward by introducing undergraduate and postgraduate courses in engineering, management, and computer applications. As per Siksha, In the Kalinga University placements of 2022, a total of 475 undergraduate (UG) and 426 postgraduate (PG) students secured placements. The median package offered to UG students ranged between INR 2.5 LPA and INR 4.2 LPA, while for PG (1-year) and PG (2-year) courses, it stood at INR 2.55 LPA and INR 4.5 LPA, respectively.
