Summary
History
Kansai Electric Power Company was established in 1951 to distribute electricity to a three-prefecture area in Japan - Osaka, Kyoto and Shiga. The company quickly grew in size and by the mid-1960s had built or acquired a number of power plants and substations. In the 1970s, Kansai Electric Power established a number of power generation subsidiaries which allowed the company to expand its area of operations and cover a greater portion of Kansai region. By the mid-1980s, Kansai Electric Power had built up an impressive network of power plants and other resources, ensuring its position as a major player in the power industry.
