Biography

After his bachelor’s in Business Informatics from the Technical University of Berlin, Leonard began his career being a part of the founding team at nakamo.to. Founded in 2017, nakamo.to provide capital and resources to the ventures that are involved in unlocking more open, transparent, and participatory systems through the next wave of Web 3.0-based innovation.

He then became a founding team member of Advanced Blockchain AG, an end-to-end Blockchain-as-a-Service company based in Berlin, Germany in 2017. Under his leadership, Advanced Blockchain AG developed next-generation blockchain infrastructure and applications for the world’s largest companies in the IoT, Automotive, Telecommunications, and Machine industries. The company combined blockchain technology with DAG technology to create the DAGchain, a product named peaq that developed applications on top of it. Its clients include the world’s largest Machine Tool Manufacturer, DMG MORI, and one of the largest car manufacturers in the world. Advanced Blockchain AG is the first blockchain company listed on the German Stock Exchange.

In 2020, Leonard co-founded EoT Labs to develop, incubate, and support open-source projects with a focus on the Economy of Things. EoT Labs was established with a mission to upgrade the Web2-based Internet of Things to the Web3-based Economy of Things, unleashing the full potential of vehicles, robots, and devices for the betterment of society. EoT Labs’ flagship project is www.peaq.network.

In 2020, Leonard co-founded peaq, a blockchain network powering decentralised applications for vehicles, robots, and devices, where he is the Chief Product Officer currently. peaq empowers people to earn as machines provide goods and services to people and other machines.

His vision is to work on transforming the Internet of Things into the Economy of Things by giving vehicles, machines, robots, and devices a sovereign identity, access, and payment capabilities so that they can independently provide and render services via the new, decentralised internet - the Web3.

Since 2019, he is also a part of Sigma Squared Society, a non-profit organisation and global community of the world’s most ambitious founders under 26, selected for their impact-driven initiatives and their ability to transform broken industries.

Vision

Leonard’s goal is to make Distributed Ledger Technology fit for the masses to unlock the potential of the real world.

He strives to work on transforming the Internet of Things into the Economy of Things by giving vehicles, machines, robots, and devices a sovereign identity, access, and payment capabilities so that they can independently provide and render services via the new, decentralised internet - the Web3.

Recognition and Awards
Explaining his vision of enabling Web 3.0 with Economy of Things, he told Hilton Supra, Vice Chairman of ztudium group: “We are really focussed on the real world: creating real value and revenue in real-world transactions. We are not just an on-chain project that is just moving money from A to B, but really making that bridge to the real world.” “We do work to make it possible to realise machine economy and also understand incentives and how well they work by incorporating some metaverse elements by incorporating the virtual aspect of that machine economy.” "To enable a machine economy that runs decentralised, open, and fair instead of a few big platforms like in Web 2.0 running the whole show and profiting massively, while others are facing trouble getting jobs because a lot of things will be automated. This is the bigger vision we are working behind."
