History

The chain was founded in 1929 by American immigrants, Jack Farber and John Weintraub, who opened the first Lojas Americanas store in São Paulo, Brazil. Since then, the chain has grown to become one of the largest department store chains in Brazil, with more than 530 stores nationwide. Lojas Americanas offers a wide array of products, from electronics and clothing to furniture and home goods.
