The company was formerly known as M/I Schottenstein Homes, Inc. and changed its name to M/I Homes, Inc. in January 2004. M/I Homes, Inc. was founded in 1976 and is based in Columbus, Ohio.
History

M/I Homes was founded as Miller & Irvin Home Builders by Irving W/ Miller and William H/ Irvin in 1976. The company became M/I Homes in 1978 when the two formed Miller-Irvin, Inc. The company went public in 1986 and has grown significantly since then, operating in 16 states as of 2019.
