History

The Marui Group’s origins stem from 1921, when Hatakeyama Tairakichi opened a home appliance store in Osaka City. The store quickly grew in popularity, and in 1936 the group established Marui & Co., Ltd. The current Marui Group was formed in 1971 when the two largest chains in the group, Shinjuku Marui Co.,Ltd. and Tokyo Marui Co.,Ltd. merged.
