Netopia, Inc. was a networking company and pioneer in the development of broadband Internet connectivity. The company's products included routers, gateways, and broadband management software, in addition to many other related technologies.
History
Netopia was founded in 1995 by three entrepreneurs with experience in computer networking, telecommunications, and software development. The company became an important supplier of DSL modems and high-speed routers during the development of broadband Internet access. They aggressively pursued strategic partnerships and alliances with major industry participants including AT&T Corporation, Microsoft, and Intel. In 2007, Netopia was acquired by Motorola for approximately $208 million.
