History

Nottingham University Business School (NUBS) is the business school of the University of Nottingham, located on the Jubilee Campus, close to Nottingham city centre. The university itself was established in 1881 and gained its Royal Charter in 1948. NUBS emerged from the university's Department of Economics and Business, which initially offered commerce and industry-related programmes. In the early 1980s, the need for a dedicated business school led to the formation of NUBS, which began offering more specialised and advanced business education.

The school expanded significantly in the 1990s, with a marked increase in the variety of programmes offered, including undergraduate, postgraduate, and MBA courses. The introduction of the Jubilee Campus in 1999 played a pivotal role in NUBS’s growth, providing state-of-the-art facilities that support teaching, research, and interaction with industry. This campus is the current home of NUBS, and it continues to serve as a hub for business education and research. The business school also opened international campuses in Malaysia and China, further broadening its global reach. The Malaysia campus, established in 2000 in Semenyih, offers the one-year MBA programme, while the China campus focuses on the school’s international expansion and fostering collaboration across borders.

NUBS holds the prestigious "triple crown" accreditation from three leading global accrediting bodies: AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS. This places the business school among the top 1% of business schools worldwide, recognised for its excellence in teaching, research, and professional practice. This distinction highlights the global recognition of NUBS as a leader in business education.
