History

Onyx Pharmaceuticals was founded in 1992 and was one of the first companies to focus on developing new treatments for rare and aggressive cancers. The company’s first product launch was in 2001 with Nexavar, a drug that treats kidney, liver, and thyroid cancer. In 2009, Onyx acquired Proteolix, which developed a first-of-its-kind treatment for multiple myeloma. Both of these drugs are currently approved and on the market.
