Founded in 2003, the company was originally established as a unit of Hitachi Cable to produce optical components, before being spun out of Hitachi Ltd. in 2006. Following the spinoff, the company drew upon its core technologies of fiber optics and optoelectronics, as well as its long-term partnerships with leading manufacturers, to develop and market its portfolio of products.
