History

Pearl Academy, established in 1993 by the Little People Education Society—an initiative of the House of Pearl Fashion—has evolved into one of India's premier institutions for design, fashion, and creative business education. Initially known as Pearl Academy of Fashion, it began by offering degrees validated by the UK's Nottingham Trent University in 1995, aiming to integrate international academic standards into its curriculum. In 2012, the University Grants Commission directed the academy to cease awarding joint degrees with foreign universities due to regulatory concerns.

 

Over the years, Pearl Academy expanded its presence across India, establishing campuses in New Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, and Bengaluru. Each campus offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma programs in fashion design, communication design, interior design, product design, and business. The Jaipur campus, inaugurated in 2007, is particularly noted for its sustainable architecture, incorporating passive cooling strategies inspired by traditional Indo-Islamic designs to suit the desert climate .
 

 

In 2011, Pearl Academy became part of the Laureate International Universities network, which expanded its global reach. Later, in 2019, it was acquired by Global University Systems, a Netherlands-based education group, further enhancing its international collaborations and academic offerings. Under GUS's ownership, Pearl Academy has continued to emphasize global exposure, industry-relevant curricula, and technological integration in education.
