History

Plumas Bank Commerce (as it was then known) was founded in Quincy, California in 1980. It was established as a California state bank by its founders, Jim Angel and Richard Webber. It was the first private banking institution to open in Quincy since the 1920s. The bank's first two years saw incredibly rapid growth, so much that plans were developed for a second location in Portola. With the help of money from investors and a Small Business Administration loan, the second bank officially opened in 1983. Plumas Bank Commerce continued its expansion in the years that followed, adding branches in Chester, Greenville, and other regions throughout Plumas County and beyond. In 2017, the bank rebranded as Plumas Bancorp and has since grown to 12 branches in California and Nevada.
