History

Progressive Waste Solutions has been a leader in waste disposal and management services since its founding in 1929. The company started out as a small, family-owned garbage hauling business in Chicago, Illinois, but quickly grew as an industry leader in reliable, cost-effective waste services. In the 1960s, the company spread its operations to additional states and eventually went public in 1967. After a series of mergers and acquisitions, Progressive Waste Solutions was established as the largest waste management company in North America in 2012. Today, the company offers comprehensive waste services to millions of customers.
