History

Real Goods was founded in 1978 in Hopland, California. It began as an independent bookstore dedicated to renewable energy and green building. Over the years, the company has grown and evolved, entering different markets and providing a larger selection of products. In 1997, Real Goods acquired Solar Electric America, creating a single destination for solar expertise and products. Today, Real Goods is the nation’s most trusted renewable energy retailer, selling a wide variety of solar equipment and providing technical advice to customers.
