The Red Lion Hotel chain was founded in 1959 by Charles “Gene” Simmons in Yakima, Washington. The company grew from a single hotel over the coming decades and in 2002 it was acquired by WestCoast Hospitality. Since then, the company has continued to expand its portfolio of hotels to over 50 locations across the United States, Mexico and Canada.
