Biography

Richard Lackey is a highly accomplished entrepreneur with over 30 years of leadership experience in the trading and securities industry. Throughout his career, he has founded and led companies that were eventually sold to Goldman Sachs and eTrade, served as the managing director for five successful private funds, and authored three books on technical analysis and market analysis. Despite his success in the securities and trading industry, Lackey has always been passionate about resolving world hunger and addressing global food security issues.

This passion led him to found the World Food Bank in 2015, which is focused on creating sustainable solutions to hunger and food security issues around the world. The organization leverages Access to Education, Access to Inputs, Access to Financing, and Access to Guaranteed Markets to improve the quality of commodities grown and the incomes generated by small farmers. Additionally, the World Food Bank leverages long-term storage technology to hold grains and pulses for extended periods, treating food as an asset class.

Before venturing into the trading world, Richard worked in emergency medicine and was involved in medical relief teams in more than a dozen countries. Through this work, he was exposed first-hand to the devastating poverty and hunger that many people around the world experience on a daily basis. His experiences left a profound impact on him, leading him to believe that the suffering caused by poverty and hunger can be prevented and alleviated through better integration of industry and political systems, particularly those that are market-driven, regenerative, and sustainable.
