History
Sanoma traces its roots to the so-called Tapio Wirkkala-Splynter, founded in 1932 in Helsinki, Finland. The company slowly expanded in the decades that followed and eventually became SanomaWSOY Corporation in 1988. In 2000, SanomaWSOY sold its paper operations to Stora Enso and changed its name to Sanoma Corporation. Entrepreneur and former Sanoma CEO, Thomas Wilhelmsson, completed the buyout of Sanoma's minority shareholders in 2006.
