History

The Sapura Group of Companies was founded in 1983, when Sapura Holdings Sdn. Bhd. was established as a trading and engineering firm by the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad. The company’s initial focus was sourcing and supplying Japanese manufactured industrial machinery and equipment to local and regional markets. With this core business background, the company subsequently diversified into other sectors such as heavy engineering and construction, manufacturing, and offshore oil and gas.
