At GE HealthCare, Simon has held several leadership roles over more than 13 years. These include Marketing Director for EMEA, Head of Global Commercial Excellence, Senior Manager for Technology Partnerships, and Regional Leader for the Commercial Leadership Programme in the DACH region. He has led complex hospital projects, managed large technology portfolios, introduced pay-per-use business models, and advised senior leadership teams at regional and European levels.
Before GE, Simon worked as a management consultant at Daemon Quest, now part of Deloitte, where he led consulting teams and delivered projects across healthcare, banking, retail, and FMCG sectors. He began his career in financial services at Sparkasse Emsland.
Simon is also active in education and industry leadership. He is a Visiting Lecturer at the University of St. Gallen, Visiting Faculty at UCL Global Business School for Health, Adjunct Faculty at IE Business School, and Chair of HIMSS Corporate Members Europe. He holds an International MBA from IE Business School and NYU Stern, a Master’s degree from ESCP Europe, and a Bachelor’s degree in International Business Management. He has lived and worked in Germany, the US, the UK, India, France, and Spain, and speaks three languages fluently.
Biography
Simon Philip Rost was born in Germany. From an early stage of his life, he showed strong interest in business, people, and international work. This interest later shaped his education and career, which developed across Europe, the United States, and Asia.
He began his professional journey in the financial services sector. From 2000 to 2003, he worked at Sparkasse Emsland in Germany as a client advisor. During this time, he supported customers with loans and investments and took part in the introduction of the Euro currency. He also contributed to internal workshops during the merger of local savings banks. Alongside his work, he received professional banking qualifications and was awarded the Eberle-Butschkau Scholarship, which supported high-potential students.
In 2003, Simon started his Bachelor’s degree in International Business Management at Hochschule Osnabrück. He completed his studies in 2006 with top academic performance. During this period, he also took part in international exchange programmes in Spain and Cuba, gaining early exposure to global business and multicultural environments.
In 2006, he enrolled in a Master’s degree in International Marketing and Communication at ESCP Europe. He studied across several European campuses and graduated in 2007 with top grades. During this time, he acted as class president, supported new students as a mentor, and worked on consulting activities. His studies strengthened his understanding of marketing strategy, communication, and international business.
Between 2007 and 2009, Simon completed executive education in Marketing and Sales at IE Business School. He later returned to IE Business School for his International MBA, which he completed between 2010 and 2011. He also completed a specialisation in Strategy and Finance at NYU Stern School of Business. During his MBA, he ranked in the top 10 percent of his class, became a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honour Society, and won the Oliver Wyman “Making Change Happen” Challenge.
From 2007 to 2011, Simon worked as a Project Leader and Management Consultant at Daemon Quest, a boutique consulting firm later acquired by Deloitte. He led consulting teams, managed client relationships, and delivered projects across sales, marketing, strategy, and operations. He also worked on commercial due diligence projects for private equity firms. His clients came from healthcare, banking, retail, and FMCG sectors.
In 2011, Simon joined General Electric. He first worked in GE Global Growth Operations in Germany, where he led go-to-market strategies, market research, and strategic planning for the German manufacturing sector. In 2012, he moved into GE Healthcare, beginning a long-term leadership journey within the organisation.
Between 2012 and 2014, he worked in commercial and marketing roles across Germany, the United States, and the United Kingdom. He led strategic marketing for the DACH region, supported global CRM implementation, and helped design outcome-based healthcare solutions.
From 2014 to 2017, Simon served as Senior Manager for Technology Partnerships at GE Healthcare. He led major hospital solution projects across Europe, managed large medical technology portfolios, introduced pay-per-use business models, and advised senior hospital and GE leadership teams.
From 2017 to 2019, he became Head of Global Commercial Excellence. He focused on improving global sales performance, commercial processes, and customer value creation. At the same time, he led the Commercial Leadership Programme for the DACH region, where he recruited, coached, and developed future sales and marketing leaders.
From 2019 to 2022, Simon was Marketing Director for GE Healthcare in the EMEA region. He led regional marketing strategy, brand positioning, and commercial growth across multiple countries.
In June 2022, Simon was appointed Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer at GE HealthCare. In this role, he leads the Enterprise Imaging and AI portfolio, focusing on digital health, artificial intelligence, innovation, and long-term strategy. He continues in this role today.
Alongside his corporate career, Simon is deeply involved in education and industry leadership. Since 2021, he has served as Adjunct Faculty at IE Business School. He is also Visiting Faculty at UCL Global Business School for Health and Visiting Lecturer at the University of St. Gallen. He is the Chair of HIMSS Corporate Members Europe, contributing to digital health collaboration across the region.
Simon is actively involved in social and healthcare causes. For over 20 years, he has supported education and medical care initiatives in India through H.E.L.G.O. He also provides pro bono consulting to German Doctors e.V., helping strengthen fundraising and marketing efforts.
Simon Philip Rost currently lives and works in Europe. He continues to lead global marketing and AI strategy at GE HealthCare, teach future leaders, support healthcare innovation, and contribute to social impact initiatives worldwide.

Simon Philip Rost has received several important awards and recognitions for his academic and professional achievements. In 2013, he received the GE CMO Award, given to the best-performing member of GE’s Experienced Commercial Leadership Programme worldwide. During his MBA studies, he received the Dean’s Letter from IE Business School for academic excellence. He was also part of the winning team of the Oliver Wyman “Making Change Happen” Challenge.
