History

SmartMetric Inc was founded in 1998 by Morris Schechter, a software developer and entrepreneur. The company was initially a software consulting firm specializing in enterprise software, but later branched out into the security and payments space. In 2003, SmartMetric introduced the first SmartScan biometric credit card, which scanned the user's fingerprint to authenticate their identity before authorizing a purchase. This innovative solution was quickly adopted by major banks across the United States, and has since been used in millions of bank accounts worldwide.
