Tibet Kara-Drabble

Tibet Kara-Drabble is a highly accomplished professional with a wealth of experience in international trade, business development, and leadership. Currently serving as the Secretary General of the British Chamber of Commerce in Turkey, Tibet has been actively involved in promoting and strengthening business ties between Turkey and the international community. In this role, she has been instrumental in facilitating trade and investment opportunities, fostering collaborations, and advocating for the interests of the chamber's members.

Tibet Kara was the Country Director for Turkey at the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), leading market development initiatives in Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. She significantly contributed to strengthening trade relationships and attracting foreign investment to the region. Tibet also served as the Senior Business Development Manager at the Australian Trade Commission, driving business growth and fostering international partnerships.

Tibet also founded the Turkish chapter of Children's Museum Association, a global non-profit organization aimed at promoting education and cultural development among children worldwide. 

Tibet's professional journey also includes roles as an Associate Consultant at AT Kearney, a leading global management consulting firm, and as a Marketing Manager at Nordisk Park Tekstil. 

Tibet holds a Post Grad degree in Management Studies from Derby University and a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering from Istanbul Technical University.

Tibet Kara is a seasoned professional with a diverse background in business and commerce. Currently serving as the Secretary General of the British Chamber of Commerce in Turkey, Tibet has been in this role since January 2022. In this position, she is responsible for leading and managing the operations of the chamber, promoting bilateral trade between the United Kingdom and Turkey, and fostering business relationships between the two countries.

Prior to her current role, Tibet held the position of Country Director for Turkey at the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) from March 2017 to January 2022. During her tenure, she oversaw the markets of Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, working towards enhancing trade and investment opportunities for Australian businesses in these regions.

Before joining Austrade, Tibet gained extensive experience as a Senior Business Development Manager at the Australian Trade Commission from March 2006 to March 2017. Based in Istanbul, she played a key role in facilitating business partnerships and promoting Australian trade interests in Turkey.

Tibet's entrepreneurial spirit led her to found the Children's Museum Association in Istanbul, with the aim to provide educational and interactive experiences for children through museum exhibits and programs.

Earlier in her career, Tibet worked as an Associate Consultant at AT Kearney, a global management consulting firm, and as a Marketing Manager at Nordisk Park Tekstil. She began her professional journey as an Industrial Engineer at TEE, Koc Holding, where she gained valuable experience in the manufacturing industry.

Tibet holds a Post Graduate degree in Management Studies from Derby University, which she obtained in 1991. She also holds a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, which she completed in 1989.
