History

Tolly Bread was founded in 2001 when the original owner, Mark Tolly, decided to start making bread with his father who ran a bakery at the time. Mark had a vision to create delicious baked goods that would be made from wholesome ingredients and no preservatives. He began selling loaves of artisan bread in local supermarkets, and by 2006, demand for his bread had grown to the point where he was able to open his own shop in the heart of London’s East End.

Our mission at Tolly Bread is to create delicious, handmade artisan breads, clearly stated with no preservatives. We believe in the importance of simplicity, ensuring our original recipes and ingredients remain true to their traditional forms. All of our breads are made with natural ingredients and are therefore of the highest quality. We are committed to providing our customers with only the best possible baking experience.

Recognition and Awards
Tolly Bread has won numerous awards over the years for the quality of its products and services. In 2010, the company won the Good Food Awards for its Sourdough Bread and in 2014, the Great Taste Awards for its Ciabatta. Tolly Bread was also named Overall Winner at the British Baking Awards in 2016. More recently in 2020, Tolly Bread was recognised for their commitment to sustainability by the Sustainable City Awards.
