In addition, it offers functional materials comprising aluminum substrates for magnetic disks; tin plates, thin plates, and various surface-treated steel sheets and various functional materials; steel bands, automatic binders, and hard alloys; frit products, inorganic color pigments, gel coats, and composite micronutrient fertilizers; and synthetic resins and FRP materials. Further, the company provides canning machinery and beverage filling equipment; packaging and food processing machinery; molds for glass and plastic bottles; petrochemicals products; and other related services, as well as beverage products; aerosol products; and general liquid-filled products. Additionally, it is involved in trucking and warehousing business; leasing of properties comprising office buildings and commercial facilities; insurance products and real estate management businesses; and tourism services, as well as automotive press dies, machinery and appliances, hard alloys and agricultural-use materials, and non-life insurance agency business. The company was formerly known as Toyo Seikan Kaisha, Ltd. and changed its name to Toyo Seikan Group Holdings, Ltd. in April 2013. The company was founded in 1917 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.
Toyo Seikan was founded in October 1945. The company had its beginnings in the original manufacturer of blown-glass bottles and the production of aluminum aerosol cans, which was followed by the establishment a molding factory and the production of aluminum cans in 1963. Toyo Seikan later went on to become a global company with operations in Japan, China, Southeast Asia, and Europe that provide packaging and building materials to the food, beverage, home, industrial, and automotive industries.
