Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group, better known as Vinacomin (Vietnam National Coal & Mineral Industries) is one of the leading business groups in Vietnam that acts as a shareholder and manager of a number of state-owned companies, operating in the mining and mineral processing industries.

History

Vinacomin was established on 1 December 2003 as a stand-alone corporate entity. The predecessor, Coal Industry Group, was a part of Vietnam Ministry of Energy, which was founded in 1945. Vinacomin is the largest coal mining company in Vietnam and is also involved in minerals exploration, exploitation and processing.
