Whiting Petroleum Corporation is an independent exploration and production company with an oil and gas portfolio in the Permian Basin, Rocky Mountains, Mid-Continent and Gulf Coast. As of August 2019, Whiting reported proved reserves of 553 million barrels of oil equivalent.
History
Whiting Petroleum Corporation was founded in 1980 and is headquartered in Denver, Colorado. The company initially operated under the name Whiting USA Trust I, but changed its name to Whiting Petroleum Corporation in May 2008. Whiting has operated in multiple states and countries including Alaska, Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, North Dakota, Montana, California, Utah, Canada and Russia.
