History

Yamana Gold was founded in July 1994 and commenced trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange on August 25, 1994 under the symbol YRI. Yamana Gold was awarded its first mining concession in 1995 at its Jacobina Mine in Brazil. Yamana has grown in scale and stature since 1994, now producing over 1 million ounces of gold per annum and is the largest primary gold producer in Brazil, with a strong presence in Latin America.
