The company was formerly known as Zhengzhou Yutong Bus Co., Ltd. Yutong Bus Co.,Ltd. was founded in 1963 and is headquartered in Zhengzhou, China.
History

The company was established in 1963 as the Zhengzhou Bus Repair Factory.

1963: Zhengzhou Bus Repair Factory was founded.

1993: Zhengzhou Yutong Bus Co., Ltd. was founded with a sales volume of 708 units.

1997: Listed in Shanghai Stock Exchange, becoming the first the listed bus company in China

1998: Yutong Industrial Park with an investment of CNY 400 million was put into operation.

2005: Launched the overseas market strategy, becoming the first Chinese bus builder to export CKD parts.

2006: Granted the Certificate for the Exemption of Import and Export Commodities From Inspection.

2009: Zhengzhou Yutong Bus Co., Ltd. Specialty Vehicle Branch was founded.

2009: The internationally advanced cathodic electrocoating line and the first experiment center of buses and parts in China were set up.

2011: Yutong TSM intelligent operating system was launched.

2012: The Yutong New Energy Bus Plant was put into operation.

2014: The National Research Center on Electronic Control & Safety Engineering Technology of Electric Buses is designated to be located

2015: The bus manufacturing factory jointly funded by Yutong from China and Venezuelan Government was officially put into operation on December 2, 2015.

2015: Yutong successfully completed the world's first trial operation of an autonomous bus on the open road.

2017: Sales volume of large and medium-sized buses reached 67,268 units, among which 24,865 units are new energy buses.

2017: Yutong exported 44 fully electric intercity buses to France.

2018: Yutong has set up seven service stations in Chile, in partnership to provide one-stop service, and the operational training for Yutong's full electric Buses

2018: Yutong won the bid for 25 hydrogen fuel cell buses order, to be delivered for the Winter Olympics in Zhangjiakou, that will take place in 2022. The buses were declared to have a range of 500 km and 10 to 15 min hydrogen refueling time and can also achieve startup at the temperature as low as -30 °C, so to be well adapted for the cold winter olympic seasonal weather.

2018: Yutong has placed two hydrogen fuel cell buses into trial use on the bus line 727 in Zhengzhou with a further 20 more hydrogen buses to follow, to total 22 hydrogen fuel cell buses for service in Zhengzhou .

As of 2018, in total Yutong has exported more than 64,000 buses and coaches. The sales and service network covers six regions in Europe, CIS, Latin America, Africa, Asia Pacific and the Middle East. Its products have been delivered to France, UK, Kazakhstan, Venezuela, Chile, Ethiopia, Cuba, South Africa, Nigeria, Singapore, the Philippines, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Bulgaria and other countries and regions.

2019: Yutong exported 100 fully electric 12-metre city buses for Santiago, Chile; operating on routes 213e and I09
