Luisa’s education includes a Bachelor of Science in Joint Honours Psychology and Nutrition from Newcastle University. Outside her professional work, she volunteers for Chance for Childhood and HCPT, supporting children’s causes globally.
Biography
Luisa Howell was born and raised in the United Kingdom. She has built a career in the strategic partnerships and innovation funding space, specialising in helping businesses optimise their capital efficiency and secure funding through both public and private routes.
After completing her education at St Benedict’s School, where she achieved A-levels in Economics, Maths, Biology, and an EPQ, Luisa went on to study at Newcastle University. There, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Joint Honours in Psychology and Nutrition. Her academic background laid the foundation for her diverse career, bridging the fields of business, health, and innovation.
Luisa’s professional journey began with internships that offered her a broad perspective on different industries. In 2017, she worked as an intern at L'Aquila, a company based in the London area. This role helped her gain early exposure to the world of business. The following year, she interned as an Elite Athlete Nutritionist at Saracens RFC, where she tailored nutrition programmes for athletes, enhancing their performance and recovery.
In 2021, she took on a finance role as a Finance Analyst intern at Maddox Gallery in Greater London. The role focused on investment portfolios, financial reporting, and various aspects of the art industry. Her next major role was at Equilibrium Labs, where she served as Chief of Staff from December 2021 to November 2022. Equilibrium Labs is a biotech start-up that works on advancing liver health treatment through innovative diagnostics and therapeutics.
In 2023, Luisa founded and became CEO of Truffore, a company she successfully built and later exited in August 2023. After her exit from Truffore, she shifted her focus to working with investors and start-ups, providing expertise in capital strategies and innovation funding.
Since November 2023, Luisa has been working at Ayming, a consultancy firm based in the UK. As a Strategic Partnerships Executive, she collaborates with investors and investor-backed businesses to optimise capital efficiency and navigate the innovation funding landscape. In January 2025, she was promoted to Senior Strategic Partnerships Executive, continuing her work with Ayming to help extend founders’ runway through innovation funding.
Alongside her professional career, Luisa is involved in several volunteer initiatives. She has supported children’s causes through her work with Chance for Childhood, organising and supporting fundraising events for over 11 years. She also volunteered with HCPT (Hosanna House and Children’s Pilgrimage Trust) in 2018, assisting disabled and disadvantaged children.
Luisa is also a lifelong learner. She has completed various certifications, including a Private Equity and Venture Capital qualification from Università Bocconi in January 2025. She is currently studying for a CS50's Introduction to Programming with Python certification from Harvard University. Additionally, she holds an Advanced Herbalism Diploma and is a Registered Associate Nutritionist (ANutr), certified by the Association for Nutrition in 2021.
