He attended Columbia High School, graduating in 2011, where he was active in varsity ultimate frisbee and the golf club. After high school, he pursued a degree in Business and Information Technology at Stevens Institute of Technology, graduating in 2015.

 

Brownlee started his YouTube journey on March 21, 2008, and began uploading videos in January 2009 while still in high school. Initially, he created screencasting tutorials and product reviews of items he owned. Over time, his detailed and analytical approach to consumer electronics reviews garnered significant attention. In 2013, his work gained notable recognition when Vic Gundotra, a former senior VP at Google, described him as “the best technology reviewer on the planet.”
