VistaCreate began its journey in 2016 under the original name Crello. It was launched by Depositphotos, a company founded in 2009 in Kyiv, Ukraine, by Dmitry Sergeev. Depositphotos developed Crello to offer a tool that allowed users without professional design skills to create visual content using templates.

On October 27, 2021, the parent company of Vistaprint (which had rebranded as Vista) acquired Depositphotos and Crello for approximately US$85 million. As part of that transaction, Crello was rebranded as VistaCreate to align with the broader Vista group’s offering of design, digital, and print services. After the acquisition, VistaCreate became one of the core products in the Vista portfolio, alongside 99Designs by Vista and VistaPrint, forming an end-to-end design and marketing suite targeting small and medium-sized businesses.
 

Following the acquisition and rebrand, VistaCreate expanded its asset library to include hundreds of thousands of templates and millions of photos, videos, and vectors under the Vista umbrella. It made its mobile apps and online editor central to helping non-designers craft professional visuals quickly and across formats (social media, print, web). 

By 2022, the user base had grown into the tens of millions, operating across more than 150 countries. In its present form, VistaCreate remains a globally available platform headquartered in Limassol, Cyprus, with a distributed development team (including in Kyiv, Ukraine) and more than 100 employees.
