He is currently the Head of Quantum Strategy at Keysight Technologies, a leading company in the field of electronic design automation and test solutions. In addition to his role at Keysight, he is the CEO and Founder of Quantum Benchmark Inc., a company focused on the validation and optimisation of quantum processor performance. He also holds a position as an Associate Professor at the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) and the Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Waterloo, where he has been an influential academic for over 20 years.

 

Joseph Emerson’s academic journey began with a BSc in physics from McGill University, followed by an MSc in experimental nuclear physics and a PhD in theoretical physics from Simon Fraser University. His doctoral research focused on quantum chaos and the foundations of quantum mechanics.
