She is the founder of Women of Web3 and Silicon-Blitz and has written three books: The New Language of Business, The New Language of Marketing, and Get Bold. Sandy is an international speaker, having presented in over 80 countries, and is an adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon University.

Biography
Sandy Carter was born in the United States. She studied Computer Science at Duke University, graduating with a Bachelor of Applied Science. During her time at Duke, she was an active member of several academic and extracurricular groups, including Phi Beta Kappa, the Provost Math Club, and the marching band. She later completed her MBA at Harvard Business School, focusing on managing technology and marketing.
Sandy began her professional career in technology at IBM. Over nearly 14 years, she held several senior leadership roles. From 2003 to 2005, she worked as Chief Product Officer for Tivoli, based in Austin, Texas. From 2005 to 2009, she served as Chief Marketing Officer of IBM WebSphere, where she led the creation of a new product category and drove marketing efforts that resulted in 18 consecutive quarters of double-digit growth.
Between 2009 and 2013, she worked as Chief Sales Officer and contributed to major revenue growth and product leadership, particularly in Lotus following IBM’s largest acquisition in that space. In her final role at IBM, from 2013 to 2017, she served as Channel Chief, building a $7 billion business in AI, cloud, and IoT.
In 2017, Sandy joined Amazon Web Services (AWS) as Vice President. At AWS, she established the Enterprise Workload division. She focused on business strategy, partner development, and product innovation. This division produced $5 billion in revenue and experienced 55% year-over-year growth. She also led initiatives to increase diversity, such as creating AWS’ first women’s group and a C-suite diversity programme. She remained at AWS until 2021.
In December 2021, Sandy became Chief Operating Officer and Head of Go-to-Market at Unstoppable Domains. She manages global operations including sales, marketing, communications, customer service, business development, legal, and partner engineering. Under her leadership, the company achieved Unicorn status and recorded 2300% growth. She has played a central role in using Artificial Intelligence to improve blockchain and Web3 services offered by the company.
In addition to her executive role, Sandy has served on the Board of Directors at Altair (NASDAQ: ALTR) since 2021. Altair is an AI-focused technology company. She also contributes to Forbes as a regular writer on AI, blockchain, and Web3. Her articles have been recognised with multiple Editor’s Choice awards.
Sandy is the founder of Women of Web3, a global initiative to promote female leadership in Web3 and blockchain technologies. She also founded Silicon-Blitz, a consultancy focused on digital innovation. Since 2016, she has served as an adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon University Silicon Valley, teaching subjects related to innovation, marketing, and leadership.
She chaired the Board of Directors for Girls in Tech from 2015 to 2023. Girls in Tech is a global non-profit organisation aimed at promoting the participation of women in the technology sector. As Chair, she oversaw the audit, governance, compensation, and team leadership committees.
