Dear Friends
In this number edition of the Dinis Guarda Citiesabc AI.DNA newsletter, we step back and ask a bigger question: what if the most important shift today isn’t happening within just industries but across systems?
Fashion and agriculture rarely appear in the same conversation. Yet both are undergoing a similar transformation. They are no longer just sectors producing goods, they are becoming interconnected systems shaped by data, coordination, and human behaviour.
In fashion, a $3T ecosystem is evolving in real time. AI is optimising supply chains, enabling hyper-personalisation, and even influencing taste. But it still cannot replicate something essential: human intuition, cultural context, and emotional resonance. This is where the idea of a “Human Premium” begins to emerge, not as a resistance to AI, but as a response to it.
At the same time, farmer-producer organisations (FPOs) are navigating a different but equally important challenge. If collective strength is the path to resilience, why do systems still struggle to support collaboration? Why does coordination remain so difficult, even when it is clearly necessary?
These shifts point to a deeper tension:
- If AI can optimise everything, what remains uniquely human?
- If systems create value, why are they still built around individual actors?
- Why do sectors that depend on collaboration often fail to reward it?
- And who benefits when systems stay fragmented?
Across both fashion and farming, one insight stands out: the future will not be defined by those who simply adopt AI, but by those who understand how systems evolve—and where human value fits within them.
As industries turn into ecosystems, are we ready to navigate, shape, and rethink the system itself?
