Biography

Nicola “Nick” Rosa was born in Potenza, Italy. He developed an interest in technology, digital media, and business strategy early in his life. His career spans over two decades, during which he has worked with major global companies, contributed to technology-driven innovations, and established himself as an expert in digital transformation and product strategy.

 

Nick started his professional journey in 2000 at Atari, where he was responsible for media relations, press strategies, corporate events, and quality assurance for video games. He then worked as a journalist for Xenia Edizioni, writing about the video game and music markets. In 2005, he joined Google as a Quality Rating Manager, where he evaluated search result relevance and conducted quality assurance for new software applications. In 2006, he moved to Yahoo! as the Entertainment Channel Manager, handling editorial content and strategies for Yahoo! Movies, Games, TV, and Horoscope.

 

In 2007, he became the Digital Product Manager at Virgin Radio Italy, where he was responsible for strategy, user experience design, and partnerships with record labels. In 2009, he joined Spotify as the Premium Services Manager, working on user conversion strategies, exclusive content deals, and market research. From 2010 to 2011, he worked at Mobile Interactive Group as a Mobile Technical Project Manager, leading mobile application development projects for major brands like Vodafone, Barclays, and O2.

 

From 2011 to 2013, he served as the Head of Mobile and Application Marketing Solutions at net mobile AG, managing product strategy for mobile applications, payment solutions, and digital content. He co-founded Black Rose Interactive in 2011, focusing on digital strategy and product management. In 2013, he worked at DigitasLBi as a Lead Programme Manager, overseeing digital transformation projects for companies like Saudi Aramco, Virgin Atlantic, and Cathay Pacific.

 

In 2014, he co-founded Touch Ideas LTD, providing digital strategy consultancy for companies in mobile, IoT, and urban mobility. In 2015, he joined IBM iX as the European Mobile Strategy Lead for the Media & Entertainment Industry. Over the next two years, he held various leadership roles at IBM iX, including European Digital Transformation Lead and Global Augmented and Virtual Reality Strategy Lead. His work involved leading digital transformation initiatives, overseeing mobile and immersive technology strategies, and managing relationships with C-suite executives.

 

In October 2017, Nick joined Accenture as the Extended Reality Lead for Europe and Global Head of Immersive Learning. He led the company's extended reality business, focusing on enterprise and consumer use cases, go-to-market strategies, and academic partnerships. 

 

In 2022, he was appointed Metaverse Strategy Lead for Europe, responsible for creating global strategy frameworks and go-to-market approaches for virtual worlds, digital identities, and immersive experiences. 

 

In July 2023, he became the Industry Technology Innovation Director for Europe at Accenture Strategy & Consulting. In this role, he helps clients define innovation strategies and implement emerging technologies like spatial computing, generative AI, quantum computing, and multiparty systems. 

 

Since December 2023, he has also been the Director of the Accenture Global Generative AI Studio for Consumer Products, focusing on AI-led transformation programmes for Fortune 1000 companies.

 

Nick is a Board Member at AIXR, a global networking and learning platform for AI and immersive technology professionals. He was previously the Chairman of the Immersive Technologies Council at BIMA. He co-hosts and co-authors two podcasts: “Field of View” with Daniel Colaiann, which discusses immersive technologies and their applications, and “AI Shift" with Vlad Larichev, which explores AI's impact on business, society, culture, and art.

 

His contributions extend to publications. In 2022, he authored Understanding the Metaverse: A Business and Ethical Guide, published by Wiley. The book provides insights into the metaverse’s potential for businesses and ethical considerations. It has been endorsed by industry leaders such as Paul Daugherty, CTO of Accenture, and Alvin Wang Graylin, President of HTC China.

“Knowledge now is very accessible. So, anybody can learn something and do something as a job. So, what's the difference between somebody that does a job, who has learned the procedure and processes perfectly, is passion. A person who is passionate about a process can turn it inside out and bend the rules and create something completely new.”

 

Speaking about his journey through the current era of emergent technologies, he said:

 

“Immersive technologies are a normal evolution of passions that I cultivated across the years that are converging beautifully into the metaverse, which includes blockchain technologies, AI, and quantum computing.
