We are entering a new era of artificial intelligence. One where machines are no longer simply processing information or generating content, but learning to understand, simulate and operate within the physical world. Physical AI, digital twins, autonomous robotics and super factories are converging to transform how we manufacture products, manage infrastructure and design the cities of tomorrow.
At NVIDIA GTC Berlin 2026, I witnessed how this transformation is moving from research into industrial reality. NVIDIA, Siemens, Foxconn and a growing ecosystem of technology and manufacturing companies are building systems where robots learn in virtual environments, factories are designed and optimised through digital twins, and AI increasingly connects computing infrastructure with physical operations.
The scale of this transformation is already significant. According to the International Federation of Robotics, 4.66 million industrial robots were operating worldwide in 2024. Amazon has surpassed one million deployed robots, while Foxconn estimates that virtual factory modelling could reduce planning and setup times by approximately 50%. These developments point towards a new industrial economy where intelligence becomes embedded in machines, production systems and entire cities.
But there is a fundamental question we cannot ignore. As automation accelerates productivity and reduces the cost of manufacturing, logistics and services, who will benefit from the economic value it creates? Without the right institutions, education systems and governance, technological abundance could coexist with growing inequality, workforce disruption and the concentration of economic power.
The next industrial revolution will not be defined by how many intelligent machines we deploy, but by what we choose to achieve with them.
Can we build an abundance society where the benefits of artificial intelligence are shared across businesses, communities and humanity, rather than concentrated in the hands of a few?
